Davido to Lead Historic Tri-Nation FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert
Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Davido has been announced as one of the headline performers for FIFA's World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert, scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on June 10, just one day before the tournament officially begins.

FIFA revealed that Davido and electronic music group Major Lazer, led by Diplo, will spearhead the United States edition of the event at Crypto.com Arena. The concert will form part of an innovative live broadcast connecting audiences across the three host countries of the 2026 FIFA World Cup — the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The event will begin with doors opening at 5:00 p.m. PT, while the live broadcast starts at 6:00 p.m. PT. Ticket sales opened on June 3.

The Los Angeles concert is one segment of a unique three-city music experience taking place simultaneously across the World Cup host nations. While Davido and Major Lazer perform in Los Angeles, audiences in Toronto and Mexico City will enjoy performances from other international artists. Canada's lineup includes Bryan Adams, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream, AHI, and Wyclef Jean, while Mexico City's show will feature Los Ángeles Azules, Belinda, and Elena Rose.

Created in collaboration with the Grammy Awards, the concert series aims to unite fans through music, football, and cultural exchange ahead of the World Cup opening match on June 12.

Davido's involvement further highlights the growing influence of Nigerian artists on the global stage. He joins fellow Nigerian stars Rema, who is set to perform at the tournament's opening ceremony, and Burna Boy, who appears on Shakira's official World Cup anthem, 'Dai Dai.'

There is also speculation that Ayra Starr may be involved in upcoming FIFA World Cup activities. Reports suggest she features on the official tournament album alongside Latto on a song titled 'Show Me.' FIFA has indicated that artists appearing on the album may also perform at future Countdown Concert events.

Speaking about the initiative, FIFA World Cup 2026 Chief Tournament Officer Manolo Zubiria described the concert series as a celebration of passion, unity, and cultural connection across the host nations and beyond.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 will run from June 11 to July 19, with matches taking place in cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
