A 23-year-old hacker who stole unreleased songs from Ed Sheeran and Lil Uzi Vert has been sentenced to 18 months in jail. Based on the Related Press, Adrian Kwiatkowski hacked each artists’ cloud accounts and offered the songs on the darkish net in alternate for cryptocurrency. London police say Kwiatkowski made 131,000 kilos (about $147k).
In August, Kwiatkowski pleaded responsible to 14 copyright costs and three counts of laptop misuse. He was arrested by the Metropolis of London Police’s Mental Property Crime Unit in September 2019. “Kwiatkowski had full disregard for the musicians’ creativity and exhausting work producing authentic songs and the next lack of earnings,” stated Joanne Jakymec of the Crown Prosecution Service. “He selfishly stole their music to generate profits for himself.”
