The company terminated him without notice on Dec. 13, and announced Wednesday that Looney will receive no further pay or benefits after the date of his termination, and will not be paid his annual bonus for fiscal year 2023.
Mr Rooney, an Irishman, resigned with immediate effect in September after less than four years in office after failing to fully disclose details of his past personal relationships with colleagues.
BP said in a statement on Wednesday: “After careful consideration, the board concluded that Mr. Looney deliberately misled the board by providing inaccurate and incomplete assurances in July 2022. ” he said.
Chief Financial Officer Murray Auchincloss is serving as interim CEO while the oil company investigates Mr Looney’s accusations and searches for his successor.
