A few years ago, I wrote about how most parents seem to have children who are old enough to have a particularly close relationship with them. It’s probably a little baby, maybe a goofy toddler, maybe a serious her 6 year old…
I always thought 3 and 4 year olds would be my forever favorites. They are very magical thinkers. — I mean, nothing surprised me more than 10 and 13 years old. These are the actual best ages. The boys are not only cute but also witty and make me laugh, making me feel like I’m living with two really fun friends (and 1000 dirty socks).
Here are some of the funniest things they’ve been up to lately. Let’s start with Anton…
We recently adopted a hamster. Anton is obsessed, but Toby doesn’t really care. I said to Anton the other day: “Buttercup is so lucky to have you as a father. I guess that makes me her grandma.” And he said, “Well, Toby is like her 15th cousin.” said.
Anton (before getting a hamster): “I need to get a boy hamster so he doesn’t get mad when he sees me in my birthday suit.”
After getting his hair cut, Anton entered the door looking upset and said: “The barber did something terrible to me, brother.”
The other day, I found a beautiful watercolor painting on my kitchen counter.
Me: “What is this?”
Anton: “I don’t know.”
Me: “But what is it really about?”
Anton: “I literally have no idea.”
Me: “But your name is written on it.”
Anton: “Oh, yes, I succeeded in art.”
I was also impressed to see the boys becoming more aware of the world around them.Anton and I were watching it golden bachelor (I know) and one of the women was talking about a career in the financial industry. And Bachelor was like, “Oh, that’s amazing. I’m really impressed, oh.” And Anton just said, “Brother, that’s kind of sexist.” I asked him to tell me more, and he said, “Brother, that’s kind of sexist.” It’s like, it’s cool but it’s not. amazing” It was such a small thing in the show, but I was so happy that he noticed it and explained it to me.
Toby, on the other hand, is still the most fun person to text. Below you will find his entire personality in his four texts.
Haha, and he definitely knows how much I love him.
These boys. How did I get so lucky?
