Omah Lay has boldly declared himself the greatest Nigerian artist of the past 20 years, expressing frustration with constant comparisons within Afrobeats.

Ahead of releasing his second album, Clarity of Mind, the Afrobeats star said in an interview with Nandoleaks that he believes he stands above all his peers in terms of artistry and music-making. This isn’t the first time Omah Lay has made such confident claims. In 2025, he described himself as the greatest of his generation and hinted that his upcoming album would prove it. During the same interview, he doubled down by calling Clarity of Mind the best Afrobeats album ever made.

Omah Lay explained that Clarity of Mind reflects an honest exploration of his life, touching on themes like mental health and his personal relationships. Like his debut album Boy Alone, the new project is expected to showcase emotional depth and introspection—qualities he believes make it the greatest contemporary Nigerian pop album.
