Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has finally addressed the long-standing rumours that he and his wife, Simi, welcomed twins, clarifying that the couple actually had a baby boy.

Speaking during an appearance on the Great Day Houston podcast on Wednesday, the singer explained that the widespread speculation online was false, although he hinted that some of the confusion may have been encouraged by his own actions.

According to Adekunle Gold, “My wife and I didn’t give birth to twins; it was just internet rumours. We have a son.” He also described what it is like being married to another talented songwriter, revealing that Simi often plays an important role in his creative process.

Rumours about the couple having twins first surfaced in January after the singer shared a mysterious Snapchat post that read: “Asked God for another child and He blessed me double.” Many fans immediately assumed the couple had welcomed twins. Around the same period, reports also emerged that Adekunle Gold had purchased two new cars before publicly announcing the pregnancy, which added more fuel to the speculation.

The pair eventually confirmed they were expecting through the music video for My Love Is the Same, where Simi appeared visibly pregnant. Later, on April 1, Simi announced that their son had been born on March 10, 2026.

During the interview, Adekunle Gold also revealed that their daughter, Adejare Kosoko, popularly known as Deja, is already showing signs of musical talent and could possibly follow in her parents’ footsteps.

The singer’s interview comes amid the release of Fuji Xtra, the deluxe edition of his 2025 album Fuji, which arrived on May 8. The project includes collaborations with Olamide, TML Vibez, and Simi, making the project both a musical and family-centred effort.

Adekunle Gold and Simi got married in a private ceremony in January 2019 after years of friendship and collaboration. Their first child, Deja, was born in May 2020.
