in Isaiah 55:8-9read the familiar words. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Oh, how limited our thinking is! Oftentimes, we make decisions based on our emotions rather than God’s Word, which makes relationships even more difficult. But what happens when we start seeking the Lord’s ways over our own opinions? Perhaps we…
- Think kindly instead of getting angry
- think sympathetically rather than critically
- think realistically rather than emotionally
God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are not our ways. But when we learn how God thinks and begin to practice God’s ways, amazing things can happen in even the most difficult relationships.
Lord God, help us to learn your way of doing things. We get caught up in our own thought patterns and beliefs, which prevent us from interacting with others in the way we should. Help me change my thinking from a heavenly perspective so that I can offer kindness and compassion to all members of my family. Bless them and show us practical ways to begin living as an example of your love. Help us to think more like You as we spend time in Your presence. In the name of Jesus, amen.
