The Nigerian pair of Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala made history during the recent CAF Awards 2023 by securing the top individual honors of the evening. Shortly after their remarkable victories, an old tweet by an individual foreseeing their triumphs resurfaced on social media and has been generating widespread discussion. Nigeria notably became the first nation to produce winners in both the male and female categories of the CAF Best Player of the Year during the same event.
A tweet made by a Nigerian man, Kunle Ogunrinde, predicting the recipients of the major individual awards at the CAF Awards 2023 has resurfaced on social media platform X. On February 14, Ogunrinde specifically mentioned on X that Victor Osimhen, the forward from Napoli, and Asisat Oshoala, the striker from Barcelona Femeni, would secure the prestigious titles of CAF African Men’s Player of the Year and CAF Women’s Player of the Year, respectively.
His tweet read:
“Say hello to 2023 CAF African Footballers of the year. The very first time a country ‘ll produce winners in Male and female categories.”
