(Reuters) – Honda Motor Co.’s U.S. unit is recalling about 2.5 million vehicles due to the risk of fuel pump failure, which can cause engines to stall during operation and increase the chance of crashes. announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
To address the issue, dealers will replace the fuel pump module free of charge, NHTSA announced Thursday.
The recall includes certain models of the Japanese automaker’s most popular models, including 2018-2020 models. Honda (NYSE:) Accord, Civic, CR-V, HR-V, Ridgeline, Odyssey and other Acura models.
According to NHTSA, the fuel pump in the fuel tank may malfunction. Owner notifications are expected to be mailed by February next year.
The announcement came a day after regulators announced a recall of approximately 106,030 CR-V hybrid vehicles due to the risk of fire and injury in a crash due to overheating or shorting of battery cables.
