Ta. This surly but very handsome gentleman is convinced that his fiancée was murdered, despite the lack of evidence. Now only a confession can bring justice, and Mr. Pemberton decides that Genevieve will help her confess. But when terrifying events befall the mansion, Genevieve realizes that her tricks are not needed after all. She may be fake, but Somerset’s ghost may be all too real…

one dark window
one dark window Written by Rachel Gillig for $2.99! Lara wrote her review of Lightning and gave it a B-.
This is actually two books together with very different pacing, making it quite difficult to review. Overall, I’m glad I read this book and I’m glad I kept reading even through the boring parts. The second volume of this series has a pretty loose story, which is definitely going to be great, and I’ve already pre-ordered it.
Fans of Uprooted and For the Wolf will be treated to a dark and rich gothic fantasy about a maiden who must unleash her inner monster to save her kingdom. But the monster inside her head isn’t the only threat lurking.
Elspeth needs a monster. The monster might be her.
It takes more than luck, it takes monsters to stay safe in the eerie, fog-shrouded kingdom that Elspeth Spindle calls home. She calls him a Nightmare, an ancient, capricious spirit trapped in his head. he is protecting her. He keeps her secret.
But nothing comes for free, especially magic.
When Elspeth meets a mysterious highwayman on a forest road, her life changes forever. Except that the robber happens to be the king’s own nephew, the captain of the Destriers, and is guilty of high treason.
He and Elspeth must collect the 12 Providence Cards, which are the key to a cure, by the summer solstice. But as the stakes rise and their undeniable attraction intensifies, Elspeth is forced to confront her darkest secret yet. Her nightmares are slowly taking over her mind. boyfriend material
Recommended: Boyfriend material Alexis Hall price is $1.99! Carey reviewed this and gave it a B+.
I thought this book was wonderful. It was really deep. There were some characters that were irritating. Those characters were sometimes really terrible people and sometimes good people who made mistakes (hello, Luc, you’re a mess). Sometimes the book made me sad. Most of the time, it was a very stressful read that made me swoon and laugh as much as it made me laugh.
Recruiting:
one (fake) boyfriend
Almost perfect in every way
Luc O’Donnell is famous for being a bit, and reluctantly, famous. The rock star’s parents divorced when he was young, and his father, whom he never met, spent the next 20 years in and out of rehab facilities. Now that his father has returned, Luc is back in the public eye, but one compromising photo is enough to ruin everything.
To clean up his image, Luc needs to find a nice, normal relationship…and Oliver Blackwood is as nice and normal as they come. He is a lawyer, an ethical vegetarian and has never caused a scandal in his life. In other words, perfect boyfriend material. Unfortunately, other than being gay, single, and needing a date for a really, really big event, Luc and Oliver have nothing in common. So they make a deal to be publicity-friendly (fake) boyfriends until things settle down. Then they can go their separate ways and act as if it never happened.
But the thing about fake dates is that they are very similar to real dates. And that’s when you get used to someone. Start falling in love with them. I never want to let them go.

three dark crowns
Recommendation: three dark crowns Kendare Blake costs $2.99! Elyse reviewed this and gave it an A.
This novel features several romances. One was a love triangle but not unpleasant, and the other was literally jaw-dropping. There’s also sex, but it happens off stage. The romance is secondary, serving to drive the plot and not be the main focus of it.
On Fennbirn Island, triplets are born in each generation. The three queens are all equal heirs to the throne and possessors of the coveted magic. Mirabella is a ferocious elemental who can conjure ravenous flames and violent storms with a snap of her fingers. Catherine is a poison master, capable of ingesting the most terrifying poisons without a stomach ache. A naturalist, Arsinoe is said to have the ability to grow the reddest roses and control the most ferocious lions.
However, the coronation of a queen is not just a matter of royal birth. Each of her sisters has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of winning or losing, it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn 16, the battle begins. The last queen surviving wins her crown.
If only it were that easy. Catherine cannot withstand the weakest poison, and Arsinoe cannot even grow weeds, no matter how hard she tries. The two queens shamefully lie about their power and are concerned about protecting each other, the island, and their powerful sister Mirabella. But as alliances form, betrayals take shape, and relentless vengeance follows the queen’s every move, one thing is certain: the last remaining queen may not be the strongest…but she… is that it may be the darkest.
