walgreens is teaming up with RxSense, a drug access and transparency technology company, to launch Rx Savings Finder, a digital marketplace where consumers can save money on medications by comparing prices on free third-party discount prescription cards.
RxSense’s SaaS platform allows companies to create a pharmacy benefits platform. The company offers analytics, prescription savings program arbitrage, digital marketing, real-time pricing automation, and more.
Walgreens uses RxSense’s products to provide customers with free tools with no subscription fees. Users can access low price coupons from mobile or desktop and receive coupons via text or email.
Coupons can be combined or applied with prescription drug insurance.

In 2018, Walgreens launched a program called 365 Get Healthy Here, offering team members and their spouses or domestic partners access to select prescription medications with no out-of-pocket cost. The retail pharmacy giant also offers customers the option to enroll in its Prescription Savings Club, a program that provides discounted medications to consumers who pay cash for generic drugs. Savings Club fees are $35 for family coverage and $20 for individual coverage.
Other companies entering the prescription drug discount space include: Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company offers the Team Cuban Card. The company says on its website that the card is a perk, not a discount card. It pays dispensing fees to private pharmacies and grocery stores to support pharmacists, and is only available at MCCPDC affiliated pharmacies.
In January, Amazon has launched RxPass, a generic drug subscription service available to Prime members. Through this program, you can get access to generic medications for common conditions like anxiety and high blood pressure for a flat fee of $5 per month.
